You know you're living in 2005 when...

...you stay up untill 5 in the morning to find fun stuff to put on your Blog!

Found a funny list:

YOU KNOW YOU'RE LIVING IN 2005 WHEN:
1. You accidentally enter your password on the microwave.
2. You haven't played solitaire with real cards in years.
3. You have a list of 15 phone numbers to reach your family of 3.
4. You e-mail your mate who works at the desk next to you.
5. Your reason for not staying in touch with friends is that they do not have e-mail addresses.
6. When you go home after a long day at work you still answer the phone in a business manner.

7. When you make phone calls from home, you accidentally dial "0" or "9" to get an outside line.
8. You've sat at the same desk for four years and worked for three different companies.
10. You learn about your redundancy on the 11 o'clock news.
11. Your boss doesn't have the ability to do your job.
12. Contractors out number permanent staff and are more likely to get long-service awards.

AND THE REAL CLINCHERS ARE:
13. You read this entire list, and kept nodding and smiling.
14. As you read this list, you think about forwarding it to your friends
15. You got this email from a friend that never talks to you anymore, except to send you jokes from the net.
16. You are too busy to notice there was no No. 9.
17. You actually scrolled back up to check that there wasn't a No.9.
18. And now you are laughing at yourself!

Stupid Summer!

The Netherlands are officially in the middle of a heat wave, and it's the earliest one since 1950!
Hmm, the joy I had about the sunshine has slightly disappeared.
It's so hot! (for Dutch standards). I'm hot and sweaty and sticky and I can't sleep at night cause the bedroom is so warm!
I pray for rain!

Summer In The City

Yes! Summer is finally here! The change of weather was fast and unexpected, just the way Dutch weather should be.
I'm really enjoying the sunshine a lot!
A couple of days ago I went to Zaanse Schans with Adeleida, Kimberly and Jenny. It's a very touristy place because it has some old windmills and cute little houses. We went there by bike and the weather was perfect.
Yesterday I had to work and one of the managers sent me out to the key copying store (I don't know what else to call it) at Prinsengracht, so I even got some sunshine during my shift.
It was really hot inside at the Willemsstraat last night, so Laurissa, Melana, Erica and I went out to the store to buy some ice cream. It was a really fun night and lots of people stayed up late cause it was just to warm to go to bed.
Today I went to Westerpark with Samira and Katya to tan! I can't be all pale in summer! It was very relaxing. I ended up reading The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe to Katya. It was fun!
Looking forward to more sunny days!

Pictures

Hello, hello.
I added some links to other peoples blogs and I added a link to what I now call my "Picture Blog". So far I only posted one picture, but there will be more soon.
I made lots of pics with my awesome digital camera, I love that thing!
So, take a look if you're at all interested.
By the way, if you're an (ex-) Shelter person, I will probably have pictures of you. If you don't want any pictures of yourself on the internet, please let me know!

Wanna Join Our Band?

A few weeks ago, when some people still worked here who have all left by now (Chrissy and Tom), we had a conversation about starting a band.
The name of our band would be Emotional Pornography (based on a story Magda told us about this guy who posted his deepest secrets on his blog). The style of our music would be Dutch Folk Rock and one of the main instruments would be the didgeridoo. And we would wear really cool hippie-like outfits. You cannot deny that it's original!
Some days later Magda and I thought of another cool name for our band. You know this band called Naked Inside (which has some Shelter people and ex-Shelter people in it)? Well, we planned to become their biggest competition and call ourselves Naked Outside. There would be this "battle of the bands". Maybe we wouldn't be the most succesful, but at least we wouldn't have to put a lot of time in thinking about the outfits we're gonna wear!

Crushes 2

How about crushes on famous people or movie characters? I think I can easily add 15 more to my list of crushes. My list would include (among others) :

Patrick Swayze in Dirty Dancing
Brandon from Beverly Hills 90210
Johnny Depp in 21 Jump Street
Noel from Felicity
Mark Owen from Take That (how embarrassing!)
Peter from Goede Tijden, Slechte Tijden (dutch tv show)
Paul Rudd in Clueless
Hugh Grant in all his movies
Mr Darcy from Pride and Prejudice
Mr Darcy from Bridget Jones's Diary
And so on, and so on...

By the way, we're gonna watch Pride and Prejudice all night tonight! Can't wait.

Crushes

Yesterday me and Laurissa decided to make a list of al the guys we have had crushes on. All the guys, in our entire lives! I know that I get crushes all the time, but I didn't realise it was this bad until I counted the people on my list. There were almost 30! I think Laurissa even had 44! In our defence, we also counted the crushes that only lasted for like a day.
Of some of the guys I couldn't even remember their name, so the list included things like "tall blond guy" and "what's her name's brother".
So, now I'm very curious about other peoples crushes. If you decide to make a list yourself, please tell me the results!

Smallgroup leader!

Woohoo, I'm smallgroup leader!!! I'm really happy. Lately I had been thinking about becoming a smallgroup leader. Chrissy left a few days ago and she used to be smallgroup leader, so they needed a new one. I thought about talking to Freek about becoming a smallgroup leader but I also wanted to wait a while to see if others would think of me as a smallgroup leader without me starting about it myself. And so they did! This is a confirmation for me that God wants me to be a smallgroup leader. I'm really excited and also a little nervous about it. I think I will make a good smallgroup leader and I think I will learn so much from it, but it's also a little scary because it brings a lot of responsibility with it.
Tomorrow will be the first smallgroup meeting that I will go to as a leader. Feels cool! I think it will be a really nice opportunity to get to know people in a different way. And I will get to work together with Daniela a lot, our other smallgroup leader. That will be so nice cause she's a really cool person!
So, can anyone tell me how many times I used the words "smallgroup" and "leader" in this post?

Disturbance In The Universe

I like things to be even and steady. For example, I like eating things in even numbers. Like cookies, mentos, M&M's, strawberries and even french toast. I'd rather eat two M&M's than three, because three is an uneven number. Kinda weird right? So now you know one of my quirks! The weird thing is that I started this behaviour after watching a Friends episode in which they talk about Monica eating TicTacs in even numbers!!!

It also bothers me when all the guests in our hostel show up at the same time in the cafe or at reception. One moment there's nothing to do and the next you're completely stressed out by the big group of people waiting to be helped. It made me think that there must be some disturbance in the universe that makes all these things happen like this. I was thinking about this one morning, and then Melissa told me that there is some scientist who did research about this stuff, this disturbance in the universe. If anyone knows this scientist, please let me know so I can do some research!

Maybe I wouldn't be bothered by this stuff so much if I just accept it the way it is.
Maybe this is just a disturbance in my mind...
